My Vision To Become The Office Manager
My Vision To Become The Office Manager My personal leadership goal to lead my life independently is I put my education first in order to achieve the job of my dreams. I aim to get my education stream ended until NZIM and I aim that in the next 3 months. A job should follow in a year or so and then I can support my family needs as my parents retire than. In life I want to be an easy going in the family and not a Hitler type leader I want a balance of rule and freedom in my surround for myself and for others who are around me. By the next 10 years I want to have my own business which I am comfortable to work as and manage my life well as well as love my work. Skills to Develop My manager is the role model for me and I would like to develop my skills like him, he is so kind and talks politely to all staff and also always use magic words like please with the works and he never get angry with the staff members if they do any mistake but he always try to solve in a silence manner. As well the respected leader whom I would like to emulate is my supervisors she always works as a team with all the staff and always tries to help each other. Some of the skills which I would like to develop are to handle the entire machine at work, have good communication with all staff, and be active at work so that everything is done on time at last is time management . Current leadership frame reference The abilities which I would like to develop to become a leader are to become an excellent speaker and built more confident, develop excellent communication skills and empathy for my followers. I would like to get involve in community work and always find a way to help needy people. Target leadership frame of reference. I am a process worker and my target is to become full time supervisor so that it will built more confident in me and I will be able to reach my desired goals in future, my aim is to learn more things about the restaurant duties and develop my leadership skills in it. Counsel and coach myself to be an effective leader The best way to learn about something is to know how you learn the best and no one is better than me who can know how I prefer learning and what motivates me to learn and make a difference. I want to counsel and coach myself first and gain the confidence needed to be an effective leader; because without confidence it is difficult to achieve goals and when we are confident we will keep trying and not give up. This is the first step before I go further developing a leadership role for myself in life and it should take 2 -3 months if I start now. This process should take long because I need to see the circumstances in life, see them every day and think about my role in it and how I can make a difference. Continuously I will compare my new thoughts with other leaders around to see if they also think like I have been thinking about my role and its importance and if it somewhat similar than would mean I am on right track. Discover new aspects, revolutionised and effective theories about leadership In this approach I want to learn the new ways of leadership in the world. The fact that technology, fashion and way of living for people change overtime, I need to keep up with what works the best today. I cannot guide myself to be a leader using the 50 year old policies and ways because it wont be as effective as it was 50 years ago. This process follows after counselling and coaching myself and should also take 3-4 months as this will involve learning and studying case studies and analysing it. In the end, I can also compare my thinking with the outcomes of the case study and see if I had made decisions instead, what would the outcome had been. If, due my decisions I feel like I would have worsen the case or would make bad choice than it would mean I have a long way more to go. Take the bitter test and lead in the worst circumstance The third step in order is to take the bitter test and this will act like a real life practical approach. Because we always make bad performance when we first time ever do something, this approach will teach me how I perform and where I should improve. But, most importantly this is a bitter test and I will try to lead myself in the worst case scenario like take the tuff case. The reason for taking the bitter test is because however I perform in it I will learn the most because there would be nothing worse than the situation I use to lead myself in. This symbolises the saying that you aim for the stars, you will at least fall on the moon; so even if I fail to lead perfectly in my bitter test, I will actually perform better in least difficult leading task I have and eventually overtime be capable to lead in my leadership roles. This process I think will take 1 2 years depending on what the task is as if it is career than the task will be a long way from now. I will setup a achievement list that has a due date and the activities and abilities with due dates and I should achieve them before the dates specified as this will be a long leadership approach. Consult an experienced leader and learn the gaps The best way to learn my mistakes is to get an individual who is much unbiased while giving me the facts about my abilities. Obviously, whatever decision I make will be based upon my thinking and morally what we think and do, is what we feel is right so it is not possible for me to decide if I am doing the right thing the right way. Getting help from an experienced leader to tell me unbiased gaps in my plan is a good way to fix my mistakes and seal the gaps which is sure to be created by an inexperienced learning leader. Gaps are sure case in every beginning for every leaders career and those gaps are otherwise sealed through experience but, for me to use an experienced leader in my plan, I will be able to minimise those gaps of inefficiency which I will create in the future. This approach should be my second last approach which should take 1 2 months and I will evaluate my progress by frequently visit my chosen leader and take advises and about my experience and he / she will decide how I perform. Be part of a group of leaders to share and learn new things The last and final steps to start the process of making something good out of my life is match and compare my talents with all others in the same field of becoming a good leader for themselves and others in their lives. Because no two leaders are always same into dealing over the same issue, this means we can learn each others way of getting the same result with different acts and perspectives. In this approach I aim to get insights, experiences and learn more techniques that will enhance my abilities further. The brain storm team will include at least 3 people and we will share our knowledge and ideas on how to successfully become good leaders of our life. This approach would be a maximum of 1 month process and I will evaluate the process by making notes and matching it against my choices and perspectives and see what new things I learn everyday from the other learners and once I see that I know other learners actions and we all think like each other as well than that would mean I have successfully completed this process.

Global Communications
For many companies, how they should survive in a changing market is very important to them and often results in many difficult decisions being made. These decisions can include whether to lay off employees, outsourcing some work to other countries, pay and benefit cuts, and many other concerns. Since this is the case, companies such as Global Communications have very serious issues that must be resolved in the best interest of the future of the company while still ensuring that the employees and others that have some stake in the company are treated fairly and in the best way possible. In order to understand some of the problems that Global Communications is facing, it is important to understand the issues of globalization and outsourcing, which is the act of sending work to other countries because of less expensive labor costs in those countries. There will be three main topics that will be addressed in the paper. These include outsourcing and globalization and their effects on a company, leadership concerns when it comes to IT, and the problems that are faced between companies and unions when they have difficulties in resolving issues based on contracts and other concerns. Many of the new technologies that are created and implemented today are often promoted by the suppliers and are only through channels that actually reach fellow technologists such as managers that specifically deal with management information systems (Connolly, 2004). This does not help those that are designed to lead organizations do their job effectively. These individuals learn about the new technology but quite often they do not know about the problems and challenges that are faced by middle management and other end users, such as front-desk employees (Connolly, 2004). Not only are they not aware of the challenges and problems that are being faced and should be handled but they do not know how to present the various capabilities of these new technological products to the individuals that will be using them (Connolly, 2004). The role of the leader should be much more than what it is in many companies, and therefore it is important to look at the problems that leaders face when it comes to information technology. Most of these problems come about from what was mentioned above ââ¬â individuals that are too technology-minded and do not take the time to explain things to leaders and others that might not understand some of the technical terminology, but would certainly understand what is needed and what they should have. A system can then be designed around that, but many individuals that work with and understand technology do not look at this type of issue. Leadership, however, is not the only issue. The outsourcing of many companies to other countries is also one of the main problems for many companies that feel that they need to expand and need cheaper labor to do so. The plight of the American worker is something that has been lamented throughout history for various reasons. Some of these reasons were really more significant than others, and some of the reasons were simply complaints that the workers felt that they could get away with. However, outsourcing is somewhat different than just a workers' complaint. The reason behind this is that outsourcing affects so many different people for various reasons. From the poorly-skilled immigrant that is desperate for a job to the corporate executive that loses his job because there is no longer anyone for him to supervise, outsourcing can affect almost everyone. Those that use outsourcing companies do not have to pay these temporary individuals the same type of salaries that they would pay to keep their full-time workers, nor do they have to pay them any type of benefits. Many people are concerned that outsourcing might cost them their jobs that others wonder if outsourcing is simply a trend that is passing through. Many business owners are also asking themselves whether outsourcing actually works and whether the company that they own should offer services that are outsourced or contract out some of their departments for outsourcing. This is especially true of many companies when it comes to the aforementioned information technology (Clark, 2004). Individuals that work in the telecom services dealing with information technology, call centers, and other similar issues are becoming more interested in outsourcing, or what is sometimes known as offshoring (Clark, 2004). Those that work as agents in call centers and those that work as engineers in information technology are becoming very concerned about this issue as well because many of the jobs that they hold or want to hold in the future are being sent to other countries (Clark, 2004). The issue came up recently in the last presidential election debate because the idea of keeping jobs here is very important to the American public but there are also good reasons to outsource specific jobs. Most people believe that outsourcing is a relatively new concept but this is simply not the case. Starting as far back as the 1950s the United States contracted many manufacturing programs with various Asian countries (Clark, 2004). The outsourcing area that is often called offshore has generally become synonymous with the idea of losing many American jobs to India (Clark, 2004). A survey that was recently taken by a human resources consulting firm found that information technology is the largest area for outsourcing. Over 67 percent of the companies that outsource utilize this for information technology, 49 percent of them utilize outsourcing for customer relations, 41 percent of them for the processes in the supply chain, and 42 percent of them for manufacturing (Clark, 2004). The survey, which looked at 500 corporations, found that approximately 45 percent were utilizing some type of outsourcing model that dealt with a global level or they planned to introduce this type of sourcing model within the next three years (Clark, 2004). There are risks to human capital that also come along with outsourcing jobs. Typically, saving money in a business by outsourcing jobs generally means that American employees must be laid off. As this trend continues and grows stronger labor unions and other employee groups are paying much more attention to what type of relationship is seen between unemployment and outsourcing (Pagach, 2004). There are many cases of employee groups becoming much more vocal on the issue and taking the concerns that they have to federal and state politicians hoping to encourage initiatives in the Legislature that would stop or reduce the outsourcing arrangements that can be made with companies offshore (Pagach, 2004). Naturally, there is also an information technology risk, once again because there is a great deal of expense that often takes place with the infrastructure and because the use of information technology makes keeping the secret and confidential items confidential somewhat more difficult (Pagach, 2004). The specifications for much of the technology that is needed may be very strict and some developing countries might not have everything they need in order to ensure that the technology that they are using is up-to-date enough to handle what they will be doing for a particular company (Pagach, 2004). Even though there are many concerns, however, there are also opportunities that can be seen from these issues. In regards to outsourcing, many other countries (in this case Ireland and India) can do certain activities or create certain goods less expensively than the United States can. Because of this, sending some work to these countries can help the profitability of the company that does so, and can also help that same company hire other workers that have more technical jobs and higher salaries. Some of these individuals can be hired from the money that is saved when the company outsources other jobs. For leadership, there are many ways that individuals can better themselves as leaders, and dealing with outsourcing and other IT issues can help leaders grow and change. This can be very significant, not only for the leaders, but for those that follow them and look up to them. Problems with labor unions are also significant, as they can also be very difficult and cause many problems. For those that must work with labor unions, there are opportunities to renegotiate issues and problems, and to come to a better understanding of what each party to the transaction actually needs from the other party, which is sometimes difficult to understand. The opportunities that are presented by the challenges that are faced by Global Communications are very significant, but in addition to these opportunities, one must also be aware of the stakeholders that are involved. Not only do the leaders of the company have a stake in what is happening with the company and where it is going in the future, but the workers in that company also have a stake in what is going on and what will happen later. Those that work with the company from other companies that exchange goods and services are also stakeholders, because what one company does might affect other companies that it works with. Those that lose their jobs because of the outsourcing often feel rejected and as though they lost everything. Those that end up ââ¬Ëtaking' those jobs in another country then become stakeholders as well, interested in hanging onto the jobs that they have acquired and hopeful that the company will continue to prosper so that they can keep their jobs. Others may become stakeholders in the future, if the company expands and brings more people in to work for it. All of the stakeholders and worthwhile individuals, and all of them have rights that the company must be careful not to tamper with as it goes about the changes that it chooses to make. As for the actual statement of the problem, it must address many issues, since there are three significant concerns that were discussed above. However, that must also be condensed into one statement so that it is easier to define. Knowing this, the statement of the problem is as follows: The issues of outsourcing and globalization, labor union concerns, and proper IT leadership are all significant concerns that must be addressed by Global Communications if the company is to continue to expand, keep its employees content, and ensure that the transitions that it makes goes as smoothly as possible. This type of problem statement is very open-ended and allows for a future that has many different ways of providing multiple opportunities for the company in the future. There are a significant number of different things that Global Communications can do to implement the changes that they wish to make in the future, and the goal for them is to ensure that they implement these changes in such a way that they are the least harmful to the largest number of individuals. As for end-state goals for Global Communications, these are somewhat more specific than the problem statement. The goals for this company are to: expand their business by outsourcing some of their work to India and Ireland; move as many people as possible to other jobs so that they will not be laid off; and work with the union to provide a satisfactory answer to the problems that are being faced. In order to do these things, Global Communications must work very hard and be willing to listen to and discuss new ideas and opinions. If the company is not willing to do this, it is quite likely that they will fail in at least one of their goals. Since leadership, outsourcing, and labor union difficulties are all concerns for Global Communications, and it has been seen how significant these issues can be, the company has no real choice but to work with others in such a way that as many people as possible can benefit from the changes. This will not be an easy road for the company, but it appears as though the labor union struggle will be the most difficult. If the outsourcing is done well and carefully and the leadership of the company is strong, it is likely that the labor union can actually reach an agreement with the company that everyone can live with. Chapter 25: History of Life on Earth Synthesis of Organic Compounds on Early Earth * The Earth probably formed about 4. 6 billion years ago, and was bombarded with rocks and other material until about 3. 9 billion years ago. * The Earth then cooled, allowing for the formation of oceans. Scientists hypothesize the general atmosphere, or at least some regions, were naturally reducing environments, meaning that they added electrons to compounds. * Activation energy provided by lightening or UV radiation may have been able to create organic compounds and amino acids, as demonstrated by a number of modern experiments.Abiotic Synthesis of Macromolecules * Experiments have been done in which amino acid solutions in hot sand have formed polymers, but not true proteins. These polymers may have functioned as basic catalysts of some kind, however. Protobionts * Cells have genetic material in the form of DNA and RNA, which they are also capable of replicating. Stromolites are mounds of prokaryotes that bind to their kin and other inorganic material. Photosynthesis and the Oxygen Revolution 2. 7 billion years ago, there were probably cynobacteria in the ocean that usedà photosynthesisà for energy and released oxygen in the process.The oxygen that these bacteria released would have eventually begun reacting with iron, and finally escaped into the atmosphere as a gas. * This buildup of oxygen actually killed many prokaryotes, and provided a strong selective force in favor of cells that could use oxygen in their met abolism. The First Eukaryotes The earliest eukaryotes are thought to have lived around 2. 1 billion years ago. These early eukaryotes probably formed throughà endosymbiosis, in which they engulfed small, living, cells and developed a mutualistic (mutually beneficial) relationship with them. * Theà mitochondria, for example, may have been ââ¬Å"formedâ⬠in this way. The mitochondria has a double membrane, maintains and replicates its own DNA and reproduce independently of the rest of the cell. The Origin of Multicellularity * As cells became more complex, they also came to exhibit greater diversity.Multicellular structures also began to form. The Earliest Multicellular Eukaryotes The earliest multicellular eukaryotes probably lived around 1. 5 billion years ago. Earth had a few ice ages between 750-580 million years ago. Eukaryote diversity incre ased after the end of this period. The Cambrian Explosion * Scientists have found a whole bunch of animal fossils from the Cambrian Period (535-525 million years ago). While previous animals seem to have mostly been herbivores or filter-feeders, the animals that arose during theà Cambrian Explosionà had claws and armor. Recent evidence, however, suggests that some of these animals were living before the Cambrian Period, so maybe ââ¬Å"explosionâ⬠isnââ¬â¢t the best term.The Colonization of Land * Prokaryotes lived on land as long as 1 billion years ago, but larger organisms wouldnââ¬â¢t get there until around 500 million years ago. Plants, which often had mutually beneficial relationships with fungi, colonized the land and began developing specialized structures suited to life out of water. Arthropods, such as insects, also spread on to the land. Continental Drift Hereââ¬â¢s something weird: the continents move. They might move really slowly, when youââ¬â¢re ta lking about millions of years, those tiny movements add up. This process, calledà continental drift, involves the movement of the Earthââ¬â¢s plates. The collision of two plates can form mountain ranges, cause earthquakes, and so forth. Consequences of Continental Drift * Around 250 million years ago, most of the Earthââ¬â¢s land was concentrated into once massive continent calledà Pangaea. As the plates moved, climates changed (sometimes dramatically) and many species went extinct.The separation of plates, in contrast, promotesà allopatric speciation. * These changes in the Earthââ¬â¢s geography help explain similarities between distant organisms, for example. Mass Extinctions * Species go extinct all the time, but there are also major events that are particularly important in evolutionary history ââ¬âà mass extinctions. The ââ¬Å"Big Fiveâ⬠Mass Extinction Events * Here are a few stats involving fives for you: * Over the past 500 million years * Weââ¬â ¢ve had 5 mass extinctions Each of which caused the deaths of more than 50% of the worldââ¬â¢s species * In theà Permian mass extinction, massive volcanic activity spewed lava over 1. 6 million square kilometers and released a huge amount of carbon dioxide, which may have warmed the planet and indirectly caused the deaths of many aquatic organisms. * In theà Cretaceous mass extinction, which killed many of the dinosaurs, an asteroid probably struck the Earth. This would have created a huge cloud of debris that could block the sun and alter the planetââ¬â¢s climate rather significantly.Such an impact may have created the Chicxulub crater in Mexico. Is a Sixth Mass Extinction Under Way? * Humans havenââ¬â¢t killed as many species as the other mass extinctions did, but weââ¬â¢re killing them between 100-1,000 times faster than they normally die. And that could be a big problem. Consequences of Mass Extinctions * It generally takes a few million years for the number of species on the Earth to rebound after a mass extinction. These events also generally wipe out species without regard to their fitness or environmental adaptations.Adaptive Radiations * The diversity of organisms has increased in the last 250 million years, as populations adapt to new environmental conditions and undergo speciation. Theseà adaptive radiationsà generally occur on a large scale after mass extinctions, which leave many ecological niches open. Worldwide Adaptive Radiations * After the dinosaurs went extinct around 65. 5 million years ago, mammals underwent significant adaptive radiation, filling the roles that now-extinct species had occupied in individual ecosystems. Regional Adaptive Radiations Hawaii, which is far from any other continent, is a particularly stark example of adaptive radiation. The Evolution of Development * There are a few different ways that mutations can significantly influence body structure. Changes in Genes * Many organisms have similar genes that are nevertheless different enough to produce very different outcomes.By identifying and testing each difference between the two genes, researchers can pinpoint the precise changes that alter the geneââ¬â¢s function. Changes in Gene Regulation * Sometimes changes in gene regulation, and thus gene expression, can alter an organismââ¬â¢s body structure. Evolutionary Novelties * Evolution doesnââ¬â¢t proceed with a final goal in mind, and just involves slight changes from one generation to the next. In Platos account of the death of Socrates, The Apology, the Greek philosopher and gadfly explains to his disciples why and how it is that he is able to accept his death sentence without fear or regret. The main thrust of Socrates position is that he prefers death to abandoning his principles, by which he means the right to speak and act freely and according to his convictions. Socrates is not entirely idealistic or irrational in his preference for death; he admits that he is old, that he has no irreplaceable attachments or obligations, and that he has accomplished most of what he set out to do in life.
